Leap's Fall Musical Presents: Bye, Bye Birdie: Youth Edition

A loving musical send-up of the early 1960s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, Bye Bye Birdie remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses all-American girl Kim McAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for kids, and a hilarious script, Bye Bye Birdie remains one of the most popular shows in schools across the country. Hit songs include “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Li Livin’ to Do,” “Kids!” and “Rosie."

Grades Eligible to Participate: 1st-6th grade. Limited spots for 1st-2nd grade. 

Auditions: August 17 & 19 (auditions),  21 (call backs). See below for details. 

Rehearsals: MWF 1:50-4:00pm (on "called" days only. Director will release full schedule after final casting.) 

Performance dates: November 18th: 5pm & 7pm. November 19th: 5pm & 7pm

Performance location: Leal Theatre (MPR)

** PLEASE READ: IMPORTANT NOTICES REGARDING AUDITION **

Auditions are only available to students who have officially REGISTERED and PAID IN FULL for Bye Bye Birdie: Youth Edition Musical. 

Audition Timeline: 

• Fri, August 14th: Audition material will be sent out via email/Band App to registered cast members. 
• Mon, August 17th,1:50pm-4:00pm: All registered STUDENTS AND PARENTS to report to MPR at 1:50pm for Check-in/Contract submission. Students (ONLY) will continue to Audition prep + Dance audition from 1:50-4:00pm. Parents DO NOT have to be present for Audition Prep and Dance Audition, but must return for MANDATORY Parent Meeting at Leal Quad from 3:20pm-4:00pm. 
• Wed, August 19th, by time slot (TBD): Vocal auditions. Parents MUST BE PRESENT (outside audition room) during their child's entire audition time slot. 
• Fri, August 21st, 1:50-4:00pm: Call backs (if called) 
• Mon, August 24th, 1:50pm-4:00pm: 1st rehearsal-full cast. 

1. Your child must bring signed contract to the audition on August 17th. NO contract = NO audition. 

2. A parent/guardian must be present for your child's entire audition time slot on Aug 19th voice auditions; no daycare provided. 

3. Check in 15 min before audition on August 19th.

4. No Parents/Guardians will be allowed inside while auditions or rehearsals take place.

5. Spacing is limited; if your child is unable to attend the scheduled time, we request you cancel as soon as possible to allow others to take your slot.

6. We cannot reschedule missed auditions

7. One sign-up per child.

8. Auditions guarantee a spot in the musical; Mr. Brogan will make final cast decisions based on multiple criteria.
